It takes the reader through the exacting details of period corset making for the contemporary human body from 1640 through 1940, thereby making corsets for the body without undue stress on the wearer.
WAISTED EFFORTS is the result of many years teaching the subject, as it was an extension of designs of 18th century costume creations of the historic Fortress of Louisbourg in Nova Scotia, Canada. From this project came the course of studies created by the author in 1974 at Dalhousie Iniversity in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was called The Costume Studies Program and was the first of its kind anywhere.
